Purpose-based  leadership

The Verb of Leadership: Design-Led & Purpose-Driven

I view leadership not as a static title we hold, but as a dynamic verb—something we consistently do. My approach is rooted in design thinking, prioritizing:

  • Empathy: Deeply understanding the needs of those we serve.

  • Problem-First Mindset: Defining the core challenge before jumping to solutions.

  • Radical Inclusion: Integrating diverse perspectives to drive innovation.

  • Iteration: Testing and refining ideas in real-time.

The Telos Leadership Lens (TLL)

My work is guided by the Telos Leadership Lens (TLL), which reframes our collective potential through three pillars:

  1. Shared Responsibility: Leadership is a duty for the many, not a privilege for the few.

  2. Collective Pursuit: It is the shared effort of delivering on a unified purpose.

  3. The Common Good: Leadership must be guided by ‘what is best for most’—acting in the best interest of the community and the organisation.

In addition to my full-time professorial role, I dedicate 20% of my time to external partnerships. I have extensive experience collaborating with both private and public sector organisations on short-term high-impact projects and long-term strategic transformations.

a unique approach

Traditional leadership often stifles the very success it aims to create. By focusing on the ‘leader’ as a person or role, it limits transformation and strangles innovation.

I offer a clear alternative: Purpose-Based Leadership.

This approach shifts the focus from individual authority and control to collective impact through two core frameworks:

EPICally MAD: We build the capacity for individuals and teams to make a difference by cultivating Energy, Purpose, Identity, and Courage.

The PAC approach: We move beyond the ‘leader vs. follower’ dynamic to focus on creating and sustaining organisational Purpose, Alignment, and Commitment.

Together, these frameworks liberate innovation and enable your organisation to reach its full potential.
